Safer Shopping In-Store

The Times MasterCard® Prepaid Card can be used wherever you see the MasterCard® acceptance mark – that’s millions of locations worldwide!

Shopping in-store is now more secure using The Times prepaid card:

  • Your card is PIN protected.
  • Change your PIN as required at ATM terminals.
  • Block your card temporarily and move funds off the card when not in use.

You’ll find your card is handy to have because:

  • It’s a discreet and safe alternative to cash.
  • You can keep track of what you’re spending – you get a receipt every time you pay, you also have a transaction list of every purchase you make in your online statement.
  • You can check your balance at any time by text message, over the phone or online.
  • Millions of retail locations worldwide will accept your Times card – shops, bars, restaurants, cinemas and many more.

No charge is applied to the card for making a purchase if you are on the Pay Monthly Tariff, or if you are a Pay As You Go customer, they are charged at 2.95% of the transaction value, (min 99p/max £1.50).

  • Identity

    When you use your Times card abroad you may be asked to key in your PIN or be asked for proof of identity as with all payment cards.

  • ‘Zip Zap’ machines

    Your Times card can only be used at retailers where authorisation for the transaction is online. Do not allow your transactions to be manually processed using for example a “Zip-Zap” or “Click-Clack” machine.
